What Google Announced
Google has launched Real-Time Policy Reviews, a feature that checks ads for policy problems while advertisers build them and clears compliant ones to run within seconds of saving. The company announced the rollout in July 2026 through its Accelerate with Google program, where product manager Josep Saurina described the shift as pulling the review process into the creation workflow itself.
Google built the feature to end a wait that has slowed advertisers for years. You wrote an ad, saved it, and sat through a review before it could serve, often for more than an hour. Google now reports that those hour-plus reviews usually finish in real time, citing its own internal data from January 2026.
The feature works at two points during ad creation. As you draft headlines and descriptions, it checks each field and flags editorial problems such as typos or capitalization before you save. You correct them on the spot, inside the same screen.
The moment you save, Google returns a policy decision. A clean ad wins approval and starts serving. An ad with a problem sends you to a new policy page that spells out the issue and your options.
Two Kinds of Flags
Google splits the notifications into two groups. Editable issues cover editorial and destination problems, such as stray symbols or a broken landing-page link, and you fix these without leaving the creative flow. Complex issues cover violations that demand a further step, such as applying for a certification or filing an appeal, and these open a dedicated policy review page with remediation guidance.
Early users include L'Oréal. Tommy Chan, the company's director of search marketing, said the tool lets their search ads go live right after they hit save, which he found valuable for their most time-sensitive campaigns.
Flagged With a Complex Issue Instead of an Editable One?
Real-Time Policy Reviews routes anything beyond a typo or a broken link to a dedicated policy page, a certification request, or an appeal. If that's where you landed, we can tell you within 48 hours whether the case has a real path forward.
What's Covered, and What's Next
For now, Real-Time Policy Reviews handle text assets in Responsive Search Ads, and they run in both the Google Ads interface and Google Ads Editor. Google plans to widen coverage to Performance Max and Demand Gen campaigns in the second half of 2026.
What It Means for Advertisers
Faster approval lets a campaign launch at the moment it counts, whether that's a flash sale or a response to a breaking trend, rather than losing an hour to review. Catching editorial errors during drafting also trims the back-and-forth that has long frustrated advertisers. The launch is part of a wider Google push across 2025 and 2026 to speed up ad reviews and cut down on wrongly delayed or suspended accounts.
